School council supports the development of a strong relationship between home, school, and the wider community served by the school, to enhance educational opportunities for all students within the school. As part of this objective, we focus on supporting parents/ guardians with information and strategies on the child and their own wellness.
OCDSB Resources
The school board provides many resources for parents that we strongly encourage you to explore:
- Parent portal
- Speaker Series
- Topics: Mental Health, Tragic Events, Bullying prevention and intervention, drug awareness
In addition, Hopewell school website has information on streetproofing tips, childcare, etc.
Wellness meetings
School council organizes regular events, including monthly Wellness Coffee meets on the third Friday of each month. Here we discuss topics that are 'hot' on the parenting struggle-list, such as: use of electronic devices, behavioural issues (tantrums, acting out, whining), sleep struggles, juggling extra-curricular activities, social media influence, social dynamics, etc.
Library:
School Council has invested in a few key reading resources for parent support. Let us know if you want to borrow any of these books.
