Our Events
School Council organizes several events throughout the year. Most of these events are to connect parents and guardians into the Hopewell school related activities, and to provide a service to the community.
You are most welcome to join any event and we are always welcoming volunteers to support and lead activities. Contact School Council to be added to the volunteer-list and receive updates on upcoming events: [email protected]

Friday Coffee/tea Parents Meet & Greet, Fall 2024
Welcoming all Hopewell parents and guardians to join us for coffee/ tea and amazing 'Life or Pie' scones, every third Friday of the month.
School Council creates a space for informal get together for parents to ask questions, share information and meet other parents.

Ski-Skate Sale and Hopewell Yard Clean up, 27 October 2024
We are prepping for our famous Fall event, selling "Ski-skate" and winter-gear, while outside we're cleaning up the Hopewell Yard!
Bring gardening tools, rakes, brooms, and we'll make Hopewell ready for the Winter!
On Saturday 26 October, you can drop off your gently-used winter-gear for assessment in the Hopewell School garage. |

2023/2024 events
End of the Year (2024) BBQ
|
Get ready for our FIRST ANNUAL EOY BBQ co-organized with The Firehall
Fun on the Hopewell PS yards from 5:00-8:00pm. Food is being sold by the Firehall and will include hotdogs (vegan and gluten free options available), caffeine free sodas, slushies. We will also have a bake sale!
Event is cash only! Bring loonies/toonies to buy food tix.
Games will be organized by our grade 6 classes between 6-7pm.
Live music will offered by Darcy's amazing band!
Classes (and the Firehall) will be providing us with baskets for the silent auction! Please join and sign up for tasks on our list and spread the word!

Yoga and Mocktail evening
Thursday 13th June, 7-9pm, Join us for an evening of relaxation!
With mocktails, yoga and meeting community experts talking about parenting, sleep and neurodivergence.
Open to all parents/guardians of Hopewell Students, Tickets cost $5. |

Movie Nights: 28 March 2024
Join us in the Hopewell Gym for a Family Movie Night!
Students are encouraged to wear PJs and bring blankets, pillows, stuffies, etc.
Popcorn will be available for purchase. Please bring your own water bottles.
We ask that all students will be accompanied by an adult!
There will be a raffle for Cineplex movie gift-cards... so bring some small cash to throw your name in. |

Chess Tournament, 11 April 2024
We're excited to bring students from Gr3-8 together with parents for a night of strategic battles on the chess board. Join us on April 11th and bring your best tactics and game face.
We ask that all students will be accompanied by an adult.
If you have chess-sets you are able to lend, please let us know. We can also use extra parent hands in support on the evening. |

Anything on Wheels Sale and Hopewell Yard Clean up, 27-28 April 2024
We are prepping for the famous Spring event, selling "Anything on wheels", offering bike tune-ups, bike rodeo, bake sale, while outside we're cleaning up the Hopewell Yard!
Bring gardening tools, wheelbarrow and together we'll make Hopewell a beautiful, clean environment!

2022/2023 events
Parent & Community "Night out at the Firehall", 30 May 2023
Come and meet your neighbours and other parents in the community. Join us on this informal, fun evening to connect, where better than at our Community Centre, OSCA. There will be games (OOS trivia anyone?), drinks, treats and snacks, live music, raffle prizes, and a great group of people to hang out with!
Happy to be joining up and offering you the chance to meet and greet!
Bike Sale and Spring Yard Clean up, 30 April 2023
Thank you so much for supporting Hopewell's "Anything on Wheels" Sale! We raised over $2100 and helped bring safe wheels to many folks in the neighbourhood. We especially want to thank our incredible volunteers who donated valuable weekend hours to make this bi-annual sale happen.
We were also fortunate to offer bike tune-ups, thanks to our amazing bike tuner-uppers - Sean, Colin, Owen, Matt, Nina, Sam, and Andrew’s team from Tall Tree Cycles - who provided our community with their exceptional bike expertise!
To keep our volunteers hydrated, Happy Goat Coffee donated coffee and fixings. And to top the weekend off, Art, from the City of Ottawa, came to share his wisdom about bike safety! All in all, the weekend was a resounding success! - Thanks Rebekka and Carson for a great event!
