Fundraising & Events

Our next Event is a Movie Night! Please join us on January 24 when we will be showing Inside Out. It's a fundraiser 💰so we are selling raffle tickets to win the "Inside Out" DVD ($1/ticket, $3 for 5), Doors open at 6:00pm and the movie starts at 6:30. 🍿Popcorn and cookies will be sold, but in the spirit of waste reduction, we are asking people to please bring your own water bottles. Students are encouraged to wear cozy PJs, arrive with pillows and blankets in hand, but all students need to come with their parents. It's a great opportunity for parents and students to come together and get to know each other - we hope to see you there!

Looking for something informative to do each Tuesday evening in February? You might want to consider attending a FREE training series!

The Hopewell School Council is happy to help promote an excellent FREE training series that is being held in Old Ottawa South (each Tuesday evening in February at 7:00 p.m.). All are welcome to attend this series that is being organized by teams from the churches in the area (please note: this is a non-religious event, religion will not be discussed). Each Tuesday a different aspect will be discussed, please see the session's titles on the poster below.
As per the organizers... "For more than a decade, the Collaborative Problem Solving approach has demonstrated effectiveness with children and adolescents with a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges across a variety of different settings. The CPS approach avoids the use of power, control and motivational procedures and instead focuses on building helping relationships and teaching at-risk kids the skills they need to succeed. It sets forth two major tenets: first, that social, emotional and behavioural challenges are best understood as the by-product of lagging thinking skills (rather than, for example, as attention-seeking, manipulative, limit-testing, or a sign of poor motivation); and second, that these challenges are best addressed by teaching children the skills they lack (rather than through reward and punishment programs and intensive imposition of adult will)."

To learn more about CPS, please visit the Think:Kids website.
We hope to see you there!

Each year the School Council organizes different activities to support special initiatives. We often have a variety of events (i.e. Dance-a-thons and Book Sales), but here is a list of our annual events:

Here are some examples of how the money raised is used:

  • Each division receives funds to support class activities and supplies
  • Chromebooks & iPads
  • Grade 5 Cross country ski trip
  • Library and learning resources
  • Yard maintenance & Play structures (future initiative: a new structure for the Kinder yard)
  • and much more

How Hopewell Raised Money for a Play Structure - Find out how council raised the money needed to replace the trees and a play structure for the school yard.

If you have any good ideas on how to raise funds for the School Council, or you are willing to volunteer your time at events - we would very much welcome your thoughts and engagement. Please contact us at:
