Friday, November 22 is the next Hopewell Movie Night!

We will be selling raffle tickets (to win DVD), popcorn and cookies and all proceeds will go towards Project SANDBox - the council's initiative to raise money to upgrade the well loved (read: worn out) Kinder Yard. Please bring your own water bottles, in the interest of the environment we will not be selling bottles of water.

Hope to see you there!

We have something else exciting to tell you about (ok, just a little exciting... but still exciting). We have a fundraising initiative that is super easy! Please check out Fundraising & Events (an option just to the left) to find out how you can contribute to Hopewell Council when you order labels through Mabel'sLabels. Thank you for your support.

The Purpose of Council:

The purpose of Council is to improve student achievement and to enhance the accountability of the education system to parents. Council’s primary means of achieving its purpose is by making recommendations to the principal of the school and the School Board. The objectives of Council are:

  • To develop a strong relationship between home, school, and the wider community served by the school, and to enhance educational opportunities for all students within the school;

  • To seek views and opinions of the school community on the operation of the school and the programs and services provided; To provide advice to the principal and, as appropriate, to the Board and/or its senior staff, on the development and implementation of policies, programs, and services affecting the school;

  • To be an effective voice for promoting the interests of the school, and to actively support the school in meeting the educational, social, and recreational needs of students.

  • To organize various initiatives throughout the year to raise funds that will help the school enhance learning (i.e. books, iPads, Speaker Series for parents etc.) and maintain and improve our yards.

School Council is a fantastic way to connect with the school community. Being an active member opens the door to countless opportunities and enrichment for our children. School Council is always seeking more parents, new ideas and volunteers to keep our great programs and commitments alive.

Everyone is welcome at any time of year to attend council meetings, which are every second Tuesday of most months at 7pm in the library. Schedule found here. We’d love to see you there!
