School Council organizes lunch options for all Hopewell students for the first term of the School Year starting after Thanksgiving Day until end of January 2025, and for the second term from February until end of June 2025. You will receive notices from School Cash Online with lunch order items, and we encourage you to finalize details as soon as possible. Orders must be in before Friday 27 September 2024 for us to make arrangements for term 1 of this school year.
Pizza Fridays
| Pizza Fridays at Hopewell Ave PS provide a popular treat for lunch. See our calendar below, in this first term, pizza's will be served weekly. You can place an order for $2.50 per pizza slice (cheese/ pepperoni or vegan/GF). Pizza Fridays will run the full school year 2024/ 2025 thanks to our great collaboration with Panago Pizza. |

Subway Mondays

We have also made arrangements with Subway to offer our students sandwiches on Subway Mondays in various options of toppings and sizes. The price for a 4” sandwich is $5.00 and 6” is $6.00. For those who have ordered last year, you will notice the increase of $0.50 to cover taxes, which were not included in last year’s prices and left us with very small margins. |
Healthy nutritious lunches
We know many of you are looking for nutritious options for when you put those school lunches together. If you want to know more about nutrition, do check out the Canada Food Guide with lots of information and a ton of meal planning, recipes and healthy snack resources and overall tips for health eating. Parents can sign up to receive the related newsletter.
We are actively looking into nutrition of the school lunches (following the School Food and Beverage policy) and are exploring various other options to include your kids' favorite veggies and fruits as a side.
And the money? Lunches are our biggest fundraiser
Please know that Pizza Friday and Subway Monday is not just a great service, but also School Council’s biggest fundraiser with 100% of the benefits going towards enhancing learning across all grades and extracurricular activities such as field trips, and improvements to our School Yards. And 10% of the money raised goes to the Ottawa Education Fund, which spends most of their funding to support student’s food security in Ottawa. Students benefit from the fundraising efforts of the School Council and we greatly appreciate the support from our generous Hopewell community.

Pizza Fridays and Subway Mondays are made possible by a great group of parent volunteers supported by Grade 8 students. Without these capable hands the distribution of the many pizzas would not be possible. Thank you!
